The College of Teachers have recently committed to the development of a 21 year vision for Michael Park School in 2009
The main stages of the visioning process are as follows:

1. Develop an appropriate form for the visioning process and gather together the people necessary to guide and support it

2. Collect and share stories through creative expressions of our experiences of MPS in a publicly accessible space,

3. Come together at a visioning event to place our stories in context of the development of the school, explore where we are now and then where we want to go together,

4. Share the results of the visioning event with the wider community and seek their reflections and support,

5. Set out to realize our vision together by creatively expressing it, integrating it into the life of our school and our plans and reporting back regularly on our progress

To initiate this process we have brought together a group representing some of the diverse perspectives that make up the Michael Park School community, such as students, staff, parents, governance, Tangata Whenua and neighbours. The role of this group is to help design the visioning process. A key aspect of this role is to decide how best we can engage members of the various constituencies that make up our community in the visioning process.

So, over the next few weeks, the members of the design team will be inviting your ideas on how you would like to be engaged in our school-wide visioning process, particularly in terms of building up a publicly accessible gallery of stories, anecdotes, pictures, paintings, images, recollections, milestones and other creative expressions which reflect our experiences of participating in the journey of Michael Park School from its inception in the mid-1970’s through to today. We hope to reach out and find ways for past parents, teachers and students to constructively contribute to the biography we a creating, so any ideas on how best we can accomplish this will also be welcome.
